Luftchess

Terms

The terms for using Luftchess, in plain words.

Updated 27 September 2026

A first version, written in plain words by the owner of Luftchess. It is not legal advice.

It describes how Luftchess works today. When that changes, this page changes first, with a new date.

What Luftchess is

Luftchess is a chess coach in your browser, built from your own games. It is an invite-only beta: it is being tested, parts of it change often, and some days something may not work.

Who can use it

2.1

People aged 18 or older who have been invited.

2.2

You sign in with your own Lichess account. Please do not share your sign-in or let others use it.

Fair play

Luftchess is for after the game, never during one. Do not use it, or anything it shows you, while a game is being played. That breaks the fair-play rules of Lichess and Chess.com, and we will end access for anyone who does it.

Your games

Your games are yours. Luftchess reads the public ones only to coach you, and does not publish or sell them. The privacy page says what is kept.

The advice

The analysis comes from chess engines and is checked before it is shown, but engines and explanations can be wrong. Use your own judgement. Luftchess is a tool for learning, not a promise of results.

Price

Luftchess is free while friends test it. We will say so on the home page before anything changes.

The service

7.1

We try to keep Luftchess running and your data safe, but during the beta it is offered as it is, without a guarantee that it will always be available or free of mistakes.

7.2

We may pause or end an invitation, for example if these terms are broken. You can stop using Luftchess at any time and ask us to delete your data.

Other services

Luftchess is not affiliated with Chess.com or Lichess. Signing in with Lichess is also covered by Lichess’s own terms.

Changes and contact

When these terms change, this page changes first, with a new date at the top. Questions go to [email protected]. We read every message.
